    and Chief Technology Architect, NTT DOCOMO, INC.

    Seizo ONOE is President of DOCOMO Technology since June 2015 and Chief Technology Architect of NTT DOCOMO since June 2017. From June 2012 to June 2017, he was Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President and a Member of the Board of Directors of NTT DOCOMO. He has been responsible for the research and development of the analog cellular system (1G), the digital cellular system (2G), W-CDMA/HSPA (3G), LTE/LTE-Advanced (4G) and 5G at NTT and NTT DOCOMO since 1982. Mr. Onoe has a master’s degree in electronics from the Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering.

    5G became a sort of boom attracting interests from various verticals, being expected to invent new business across the industries. The laws of mobile communication generations are derived from the history, however, different phenomena are also happening in 5G. The cross-industry collaboration will be the key to make 5G a great success.

    He worked for Toyota Motor Corporatio from 2001-2015 as Porject General Manager on Fuel Cell Vehicle and has worked for Tokyo Institute of Technology since 2015.
    He has investigated Photo Galvanic Cell, Amorphous Silicone Solar Cell, and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells where he was a principle investigator of a National Project on SOFC for 5 years. He has led the effort to develop materials, MEAs, and cell configurations, for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells since 2001. His current research is focusing on advanced PEMFC technology including membrane and catalyst.
